Whether you enjoy a casual, slow-paced adventure or a vigorous, heart-pumping quest, Northern Wisconsin can accommodate. When you're ready to explore, give Birch Trail a call to book your accommodations.

WinMan Trails

The WinMan Trails is "a relatively new trail system that’s already becoming recognized as one of the premier year-round silent sports destination in the Midwest." (source) "What started with a small network of snowshoe trails built on the private land, has in a short time, blossomed into an area of over 1,300 acres that spans both the private and state land, and now offers year-round silent sports recreational opportunities for all types of activities - mountain biking, trail running and hiking in the warm seasons, cross-country skiing (classic and skate), snowshoeing and single-track fat biking in winter."

Zip Line Adventure Tours

Since opening in 2014, the Northwoods Zip Line Adventure Tours has become the biggest (and arguably the best) zip line canopy tour in all of the Midwest. Started by a Wisconsin native with a civil engineering background and his partner with extensive knowledge in construction and landscaping, these two men brought their vision of expanded outdoor recreation to the Northwoods area. We are so excited to have such an exhilarating operation nearby to offer our guests. Not just for zip lining, this business also offers aerial trek, argo ATV trail rides and so much more.

Horse Back Riding

A handful of locally-owned and operated businesses in the area offer horseback riding in combination with many other outdoor activities. As a child, I can remember riding horses during our visits to Minocqua, wishing the trails would never end. For more information, check out the horse riding spots linked below:

  • Holiday Acres - offering horseback riding, go karts, mini golf and pony rides (for the youngsters) on Hwy 51 just south of downtown Minocqua.

  • Rock Falls Riding Stable - offering horseback riding, mini golf and go karts in Arbor Vitae.

  • Pine Point Riding Stables - offering trail rides, specialty rides, longer rides and advanced riding (for the avid horse enthusiast) in Eagle River, Wisconsin (just down the road a ways).

ATVing & UTVing

"ATV riding has become an exciting recreational sport for many in the state of Wisconsin. Our area provides access to many trail systems within a short drive. The Towns of Minocqua, Woodruff and Arbor Vitae have opened up ATV routes within the Townships for the purpose of accessing neighboring trail systems." (source)

Wildwood Wildlife Park

A zoo in Minocqua? Yes! Offering tons of outdoor fun for families and couples alike, the Wildwood Wildlife Park, located in Minocqua, WI, is a great way to spend an entire afternoon. Featuring an extensive petting zoo (which they are most famous for) as well as some of the world's most impressive species such as giraffes, zebras, bongo, Arabian oryx, primates, African penguins and so much more! From their Facebook page: "Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo & Safari is home to over 1,700 animals and 229 species! A visit to the Giraffe Serengeti brings you close enough to one of the tallest mammals in the world. When the giraffe leans down to nibble out of your hand, they might steal a kiss from you instead!"
