About the Event

Paint your own version of this hummingbird lazy susan, complete with base and turn table machanism, and Tuscan Wine Country using your imagination. Each student will receive a 12" pine round and 10" x 12" pine plaque (with hanger) that already has the burned image ready to paint. These will be two different classes on consecutive days, all included in this workshop. Sue will demonstrate paint application, brush strokes, color mizing, and simple shading to complete the projects.

Sue, "Even though each person has the same image to work from as a guide, all the paintings turn out so very different. Students are choosing colors they like and using strong or soft brush strokes to give it personality, each piece will be unique as the person painting it."

About the Instructor Sue Schurch

Sue owns Blossoms Studio in Land 'O Lakes, Wisconsin, which she opned in 2013 after relocating back to Wisconsin. Her studio is on a picturesque small lake, surrounded by trees and lots of wildlife. Working in acrylic and latex paint, she paints and wood burns on found objects, antiques, new wood, barn wood and canvases, mostly all with a north woods theme and SOuthern Wisconsin farm scenes. She still loves Wisconsin barns and cows!

Sue is on the Northwoods Art Tour in July and October and sells her work at her studio, Moondeer and Friends in Boulder Junction and Stone's Throw in Bayfield, both in Northern Wisconsin.

She graduated from UW-Madison in 1979 with a major in art. She moved to southern California where she continued to paint and after raising her family, Sue returned to the Midwest and now lives in Land "O Lakes with her husband Gary. According to Sue, "I have been painting since I was a child, dragging home driftwood, oars and anchors from trips to Bemidji Minnesota. Painting on mom's antique furniture and anything I could get my hands on. Nothing has changed! My work is fun and functional, and makes you smile. I would love to share my passion with you all."
